  • Waiting.

M was late the other day. M was a stranger and he asked me whether he could photocopy my (awesome) lecture notes that he missed, and I said yes because I felt like being kind that day. I told him that if he needed extra clarification for my notes, that he could call me, and I would explain. I am too nice sometimes.

So, what do you know, M needed extra clarifications. He suggested that we meet up for coffee, I suggested lets NOT and just meet up half an hour before lecture to go over the notes.

I guess he took that as a clear sign that I am not interested in him.

But does that mean that he has to be late? Dang, I hate it when guys are late.

I told him to wait in front of the lecture hall at 2:00pm, I came fashionably late, oh say — 2:05pm, because that’s just how I roll. But this guy wasn’t even there. I waited for another 5 minutes, and just left and went into class.

He came for class and I looked at him with a blank stare. He opened his mouth, but I beat him to it:

Number 1, never make a girl wait. Understand? and Number 2, I have a million dollars to make in 523 days, my time equals money.”

He looked at me and lowered his head. “I’m sorry”, and that’s all he mumbled. He sat down and continued with his mindless NBA statistics on his lap top.

I don’t think that guy likes me much anymore. GOOD.

Guys, what does it mean when you make girls wait? Does it mean that they are less important to you? You’re not really that into them? Just another girl you’re dating? What are other reasons why you would let a girl wait?

Girls, we just hate it when guys are late. Enough said.
(Well, are there girls out there that don’t mind this trait in guys?? Speak now!)

  • we bought you flowers and fought for that classy restaurant reservation.

  • haha! make sure you show up even LATER next time!

  • SNAP! That’ll teach Steadman not to waste your time.

  • but what if it’s the other way around?

  • hmm…but you only waited 5 minutes for him. actually, i don’t think i would mind waiting for anyone cause when i wait, i usually have something to do ie. listen to music, organize my week with my agenda, call a friend, write a letter, think to myself…keep yourself pre-occupied with doing something else rather than just standing there waiting mindlessly for someone and wasting your time…don’t think of it as wasting your time when you’re waiting…do something productive when you’re waiting so that waiting doens’t seem so bad…heck, even taking out the crossword puzzles and sudoku can make it more bearable. yea, so the next time you’re “waiting” for someone, take out your kit and start reading or something. that way, you’re not wasting time waiting for someone =)

  • i’m habitually 15 minutes late. i don’t know what it is. but… i never last minute cancel on people, i never no show. if i say i’ll be there, then i will. but… if i’m doing a favor for someone and they are being inconsiderate… then that’s horrid-ble. but did he look hot? because if he was prettying himself up for you, that’s definitely excusable! =P

if i know i might have to wait for someone or something, i always bring reading material. mcdonalds, post office, bank, boba… my mind is a terrible thing to waste.

  • yeah i’m habitually late tooo. but sometimes randomly i’d have to wait for the guy, but tha’ts ok, i usually have a research article at handy with me… so it’s alright. But yeah, 5 mins isn’t so bad… 30 mins or an hour.. then yeah tha’ts pretty bad~~ =P

  • yeah i’m really picky about punctuality… a girl who is punctual wins SO MANY POINTS!! hahaha

so you never let him explain why he was late? maybe he was saving a cat?

  • i’m perpetually late in everything except job interviews, so i definitely don’t mind if my guy is late e.g. for a date, unless it’s for school…. i’m the one who usually makes him wait

i think it boils down to personality traits. the ones who need structure/order/to be on time vs. the more laidback/lazy/openended types
